The sub-4 meter SUV segment has evolved into one of the most dynamic and competitive areas in the automotive industry. A variety of new models are anticipated to hit the market in the coming years, including electric vehicles (EVs) and those powered by internal combustion engines (ICE). Some vehicles are already undergoing testing, while others have been teased ahead of their official launches.
2nd Generation Hyundai Venue – Expected Launch: October 2025
The next-generation Hyundai Venue, codenamed QU2i, is currently in the testing phase in India and has been spotted multiple times. This model will succeed the existing version, which has been available since 2019 and received a facelift in 2022.
The new Venue is set to launch by October 2025, featuring numerous updates to both its exterior and interior. Spy images indicate a larger infotainment system that extends towards the driver's side, reminiscent of the layout found in the Hyundai Creta. While the engine options are likely to remain the same, a price increase from the current ₹7.94 lakh to ₹13.62 lakh (ex-showroom) is expected.
Kia Syros EV
The Kia Syros EV, spotted during testing in Korea, seems to share several design elements with its ICE version. Built on a reinforced K1 platform, it may feature a similar interior layout and will utilize battery packs sourced from the Hyundai Inster.
Two battery options are anticipated: a 42 kWh pack and a 49 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) pack, providing estimated ranges of approximately 300 km and 355 km, respectively. The pricing is expected to fall within the ₹14–20 lakh (ex-showroom) range.
Hyundai Bayon
Another model on the horizon is the Hyundai Bayon crossover, which will fit between the Exter and the Venue in Hyundai's lineup. Built on the i20 platform, it is likely to share its engine options with the i20 hatchback.

Reports indicate that the 1.2-litre petrol engine may receive a mild-hybrid technology upgrade, improving both efficiency and performance. The Hyundai Bayon is expected to launch within the next year.
Mahindra Vision S and Vision X
Mahindra's new NU-IK platform will support four upcoming models: the Vision S, Vision X, Vision T, and Vision SXT. Among these, the Vision S has already begun testing and is anticipated to be the first to launch.

Featuring a neo-retro design philosophy, the Vision S will be available with both petrol and diesel engines, while the new platform will also accommodate hybrid and fully-electric powertrains.
The Vision X, expected to debut by 2027, will eventually take the place of the XUV3XO. Both the Vision S and Vision X will share various design and platform features.
While manufacturers aim to introduce these models within the next year, some launches may experience delays due to challenges such as shortages of rare-earth metals and supply chain issues.
